The Stress Management & Prevention Center, LLC, abides by Title II of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which “defines policies, procedures and guidelines for maintaining the privacy and security of individually identifiable health information.”
The purpose of the law is to improve portability of health insurance coverage, reduce healthcare fraud and abuse and protect individual privacy of personal health records. The Center also abides by the Electronic Communication Act, 18 USC SS 2510-2521, which prohibits the interception and disclosure of wire, oral, or electronic communications of confidential information.
In keeping with HIPPPA regulations, any records held by the Stress Management & Prevention Center, LLC on any of its clients are kept protected from unauthorized individuals. Dr. Carlo-Casellas abides by Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Section 1557 is the nondiscrimination provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The law prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in certain health programs or activities. Section 1557 builds on, long-standing, and familiar Federal civil rights laws.
